What is Blumgi Rocket?

Blumgi Rocket is a driving and platform game from the studio Blumgi, first released on Poki in November 2021. You drive a rocket-powered sports car across colourful courses full of hills, slopes, tunnels and mountain sections. The car can drive normally, but the rocket is what gets you over big gaps: hold the button and the car is fired forward, with a slow-motion moment as the rocket kicks in.

The longer you keep the rocket button held, the harder the launch. Once you are in the air you can flip the car, and pulling off stunts mid-air gets you to the finish line faster. Finishing levels unlocks new skins for your car.

On phones and tablets the game shows on-screen buttons for accelerating and for the rocket, and its listing gives landscape as the orientation.

What is inside

This copy is a Construct project, and its files show how the game is put together:

• Levels: each course is its own numbered layout. There is also an island screen, and a helicopter appears on the home and island screens.
• Car skins: a table of car skins, a shop where skins are unlocked, and a separate set of Christmas skins.
• Water: some courses have water with blocks that move in it.
• Saving: the game stores your current level and the skin you selected, so you continue where you stopped.

Tips

• Power builds the longer you hold the rocket, so match the length of the hold to the size of the gap in front of you.
• Use the airtime after a launch for a flip, because stunts in the air shorten the run.
• New skins come from finishing levels, so pushing through the course list is also how you fill the garage.
